Robert E. Abert

Robert E. Abert, 81, of Syracuse, NY, passed away on September 8, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years Suzanne (Wight), his son Robert G. Abert (Michelle) of SC, his daughter Debra Gascon (Jim) of Marcellus, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and extended family in Massachusetts.  He is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Helen Abert, and his brother, Charles (Jeanne).  He lived in Syracuse his entire life. He joined the Army in 1960 where he served as a mess sergeant in Alaska.  Upon his return, he continued his service to his country in the reserves and also went to work at Richard’s Dental Lab making gold crowns.  Later in life he was employed by Onondaga County for nine years before his retirement.  He loved fishing, his car, and his family.  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, people are encouraged to make a donation in Bob’s name to The Francis House where he received loving care for the last days of his life - 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, NY 13208 or francishouseny.org.
