Ruth Wilcox Burgess

Ruth Wilcox Burgess passed away January 16, 2025 at the age of 88.  Born  in Manlius, she lived most of her life there with some years in Lyndon.  She is survived by her daughter Robin of Manlius and son Todd (Judy)  of Phoenix, Arizona and grandchildren Jeremy, Virginia, Jonathon, and Lucia.  She is predeceased by husband Volney, sons Volney Paul (Donna) and Bryan.  A memorial service is being planned for a later date.

While her young family was growing up, Ruth was busy with Boy and Girl Scout activities as well as the DAR .  She was an excellent cook and baker.  Her decorated cakes were the highlight of birthday parties and other celebrations.  She became involved in the Gem and Mineral Club of  Syracuse in the 70s and enjoyed rock hounding and learning lapidary skills.

In her later years, Ruth love to travel and see new places. She especially loved the southwest.

She will be missed by her family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to remove a leaning tree threatening her family plot and establish a bench she has wanted for a long time to honor her brothers and sister.
