Shirley Arnott died on June 11, 2025. She was 95 years old. Shirley was born in Syracuse, NY and retired from Community General Hospital as the secretary for the volunteer office. After retirement she became a volunteer for the hospital’s gift shop.
Shirley’s hobbies were crafting, quilting, sewing, and gardening. She loved to watch and feed the birds, drive to Green Hills for some yummy baked goods, sit on her front porch with a cup of tea, attend Our Lady of Lourdes Church, wear her kilt to the Scottish Games, drink a Coke Float from Gannons, take long walks with her dog, volunteer at the Babe Ruth Baseball Field Concession Stand, attend bingo, and solve a jigsaw or crossword puzzle. She always had fond memories of traveling to Newport, Rhode Island, London, Scotland and Ireland.
Shirley had resided at Bishop Commons, Parkrose and Morningstar within the last five years. The family would like to thank the staff from all of those facilities.
Shirley is predeceased by her parents, Tom and Nora O’Brien, her husband John Arnott and her dogs, Thunder, Raisin, Muffy, Molly and Penny.
She is survived by her sons, John (Nancy) Arnott and Patrick Arnott, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
