Thomas V. Washo (Tom), 81, of Manlius, NY formerly of Wallingford, CT passed away to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 28, 2020, at his home.
Tom was born in Syracuse, he was the son of the late Andrew and Katherine (Furdock) Washo.
Tom graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1957 and continued his education at Syracuse University.
Tom was dedicated to his career of 38 years with Bristol Myers as a Biochemist. He loved socializing with his friends and family with a nice glass of red wine. He had a passion for dancing and was always the first one on the dance floor. He had a love for music, especially Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond. He enjoyed photography and often entered his pieces in local contests. He was a member of the book club at a local library in Wallingford, CT where he also performed plays. He enjoyed being surrounded by friends at both the Manlius and Wallingford senior centers.
Tom always greeted you with a smile and had a witty sense of humor. We will forever cherish our memories of him, especially his jovial spirit and dancing and singing to “Roll Out the Barrel” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” on the old player piano at family gatherings and summers spent at DeRuyter Lake.
Tom is survived by his children, Melanie, Marie (Brian) Honors, Tom (Sandra), John, Mary, Bill (Meg), Hilary (George); 30 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; brothers, Pete, Drew, Matt, Paul (Michael), sister-in-law, Pat; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by Diane, the mother of his children, and his brother Jack.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Matthew's Church in East Syracuse. Family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Matthew’s Church, 229 W. Yates Street, East Syracuse, NY.
