Vern Gaffield

Vern Gaffield died Aug 19th, 2023 at the age of 65. He was home with his wife Brenda of 34+ years by his side when he passed. He was so proud of his family.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Brenda Gaffield, children, Patrina Shute, Melody-Anne (Salvatore) Arcuri, Stephanie Jacobs, Mackenzie Shute, Andrew Gaffield (Marie Elliott), Kaylyn Gaffield (Samantha Moore), 18 grandchildren, several step grandchildren, his loyal side kick, Scout (dog), 4 nieces, 9 great nephews and 5 great-great nephews and nieces. Also survived by two sisters, Jackie Gaffield (Liverpool) and Donna Price (Cicero), Uncle James Brill (Pebble Beach, CA) many cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother and father Jack and Helen Gaffield, Uncle Jack Price and niece Jeanelle Crowell Cross.

Vern was an amazing man, blessed with great spirit, compassion and love for his family and friends. Vern had many talents and hobbies, woodworking, pet shop owner, amazing machinist and hot rod builder. Vern was involved with Boy Scouts of America for 28 + years as a Scout leader, mentor, and committee member for Troup & Pack 723 Cleveland, NY. Vern was also involved in the scout camping program at Camp Woodland as camp master and at Sabbittis as program director and shot gun instructor. His scouting career started as a youth scout. Vern was an avid outdoorsman he loved canoeing, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the African Violet Club and Seniors of the North Shore. Anyone that met, knew, and loved Vern will never forget this glowing character especially around his grandchildren. We love and miss you. You will never be forgotten.

Calling hours will be held from 1-2pm on Sunday September 3rd at Cleveland Methodist Church, 73 Bridge St., Cleveland, NY with a funeral service to follow at 2:30pm.
