Wendy (Kirby) Moran

Wendy Kirby Moran, 63, of Otisco, passed away August 10, 2025. Wendy had a kind, generous soul and chose to find the positive in everyone.

Wendy was predeceased by her gentle and patient husband, Bill Moran (2019); her adventurous daughter, Kelly Moran (2022) and her stepdaughter, Deena Moran (2025).

Wendy is survived by her daughter, Shawna Moran-Purcell (Christoper Purcell) and granddaughters Nicole Rizzo and Adalyn May Purcell.

Wendy had many hobbies: she enjoyed hiking, watching the celestial events in the sky; understanding nature and how each bug fits in to the ecosystem - she loved bugs; growing fresh vegetables and herbs in her garden; enjoying the camaraderie of her friends and laughter with her golf buddies; watching Syracuse basketball; coin collecting and Syracuse festivals. 

Wendy was very athletic, in high school she was the 1978 MVP in girl’s soccer, and MVP for girl’s softball for the 1979 season.  She loved traveling to Rockport, MA with her family.

After 32 years, Wendy retired from the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier for the Liverpool post office. 

Wendy loved her job, and enjoyed meeting the customers on her route. Often using her lunch breaks, Wendy would stop and have tea with grieving widows helping them through the loss of a spouse; Wendy has been known to stop and play a quick game of catch with the kids on the streets, hang curtains or do odd errands after work at the request of customers.  She even climbed a flagpole for a WWII Veteran to untangle his flag. She once helped save a dog trapped in a car window- now that’s a compassionate mail carrier!

Graveside services for family and friends will be held at Assumption Cemetery on Friday, August 15th at 11:00 a.m.
