William F. Light

William "Bill F. Light passed away peacefully at home on Monday evening July 24, 2023. Bill was born on February 28, 1956 in Hackensack, NJ. He was raised in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. He attended Corpus Christi Catholic school and graduated from Hasbrouck Heights High School in 1974. He married his high school crush Donna Salinardi on October 13, 1979. After some years of adventures together they temporarily settled in Pittsfield, MA while Bill attended Berkshire Community College and welcomed his first-born Catherine. He graduated BCC with two associates degrees, Biochemistry and Environmental Science. He then continued his education in Utica, NY at SUNY Utica Rome. It was there he graduated with his Bachelor's in Biochemistry and welcomed his second daughter, Margaret.

Bill settled in East Syracuse, NY where he was employed at Bristol Meyers Squibb Company for 30 years. Bill and Donna raised their children here and made lifelong friends. Bill was a lover of music. He played guitar and enjoyed Bluegrass and Jazz. He enjoyed good pizza, cats, reading the paper, writing to the paper, zombies, b-horror movies, the NY State Fair, and most of all, his grandson William whom was born in 2013.

Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years Donna, daughters Catherine Chadwick (Nate and William) of Lansing. NY, and Margaret Light (Brian Baum Il) of East Syracuse, NY.

Calling Hours will be held at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, Inc. 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse, NY 13057 on Friday July 28th from 4-7pm. There will be a service to follow the next morning, Saturday July 29th at 11am, same location. In leu of sending flowers, please make a donation to the Food Bank of CNY in Bill's name.
