Music by The Piano Brothers

Michael W. DeGaramo, Bridgeport NY, lost his battle with multiple cancers, at home, on May 7, 2017, after fighting hard with courage and without complaint. Those who knew him best will always remember his trusting, forgiving heart and sweet soul inside a body that was once as strong as a bull. Mike loved playing music and his Harley, but said the best part of any day was coming home. He'll be forever missed by Sharon, his best friend and wife of 28 years, his beloved Dutch shepherd, his family, and all the friends who offered unfailing support during his illness. Ride Free, Husband, Friend, and Brother. Donations can be made to Kirkville Animal Rescue & Education at kareinc.org, Hospice of CNY at hospicecny.org, and/or Hematology and Oncology Associates of CNY (Fun Committee). "What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon. Or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember no just that you died, but that you LIVED. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to ever forget." -(Author Unknown)

We will miss you forever, Mike. xox

When we first met I didn't quite know how to take you, we were robbed of a lot of years due to my stubbornness. The love you have shown over 28 years for my Sister Sharon makes a real believer out of me. Am so very sorry for all those years missed you will always be in our minds and hearts forever, so farewell dear Brother in law, Gods speed.

Smurf, (Sharon) NO one could of been a better advocate for or caretaker of Mike than you were! your countless sleepless nights and loving care of him was proof of all the love between the two of you. The cancer may have weakened and shrunk his body but one thing never changed in size...his huge heart!
He was an awesome human being, he did ,after all, put up with you for twenty eight years! snicker snicker:) In all seriousness I am truly in awe of both of you.
love!

Remembering fun times as children, cousins, at Degaramo house in Friendsville and ours on Rockwell Rd, Vestal and the cabin in PA where both families camped and all kids slept in attic and bats flying thru attic during night. Great childhood memories of all the cousins, Aunts and Uncle!

Sharon – You know how sorry and sad I am for all of the difficulties you and Mike faced during his very complicated and painful illness. Mike was a gentle soul in a “mountain man” body. Someone who loved the open road, his Dutch shepherds and more importantly, you.

You have not only been his wife and best friend, you were his caregiver 24/7 under very difficult conditions for him… and for you. You were by his side morning, noon and night to bring him peace and comfort… and I believe he knew you were there for him - always.

Sundays at 2:07 am will always be a time in my life that I will never forget. The strength and courage that Mike exhibited throughout his illness now becomes your strength and courage as you enter this new chapter of your life. During those “tough moments” remember his love for you and the 28 years of joy and friendship you had with each other.

Sending much love to you.

Aunt Sharon- My heart breaks for you. Mike was a wonderful man who loved you with every ounce of his soul. Not many are lucky enough to share the kind of love you both had for each other. To anyone who knew and loved Mike they knew he was was a kind and gentle soul. I always thought of him as a huge teddy bear! You're love for each other was never ending. Always remember you have a special soul who will watch over you, protect you, love you and guide you. His love for you and Thor will carry on for lifetimes to come.

Aunt Sharon- There's not many people in this world who are lucky enough to experience the kind of love that you and Mike share. The strength of your love will transcend. Mike was a gentle man in a strong body. A protector of all that he cared for. I always thought of Mike as a big "teddy bear" that needed a little "tweak" every once in a while. ;) Although Mike's body is no longer present, his love will live on forever in all those that cared for him. You and Thor now have a guiding soul that will protect, love and see you through any difficulties you may encounter. I take comfort in knowing how much love and happiness you both shared. Mike you are a part of our family forever. Until we meet again.

Sharon please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your Best Friend, Husband, Love of your life, Father to your Thor....Mike.
You shared many years and memories. You gave him the greatest gift of all to allow him to be home and pass on to the other side surrounded by peace and your undying love.
You allowed this strong spirit to pass with dignity.
There is nothing more loving nor more intimate than to spend last moments together. You were there for him body and soul. You both fought a tough battle together never giving up. You both faced the inevitable with grace and without fear.
He is still by your side unseen. He will be an additional guiding spirit to protect you for the remainder of your life and through your final transition.
Only the body dies. The spirit lives on. He is riding free, with the wind in his hair, free of pain. Until you meet again only remember the good times.
I love you sugar blossom.

Mike will be very much missed here at Industrial Fabricating. He was not only well liked by all our employees, but was a top notch welder. His welding quality was second to none and he took great pride in his work. He was a humble, but very confident gentleman and I'm a better person for knowing him. So glad I had a chance to work with a man such as he.
Sharon, it was a pleasure to meet you, although I wish it could have been under different circumstances. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
God bless.
